The Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts Institute of Madeira (IVBAM) within the scope of its attributions of valuing and preserving the Handicrafts and Embroidery of Madeira, will announce, on November 27th, at 4 pm, the winners of the 2nd edition of the Regional Handicrafts Enhancement Award and will award the prizes to the "Madeira Embroiderers" with the best execution, this year.
This joint ceremony will take place in the main hall of the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts Institute (IVBAM), with the presence of the Regional Secretary of Agriculture and Environment, Dr. Rafaela Fernandes and the President of the Regional Government, Dr. Miguel Albuquerque.
For the 2nd edition of the Regional Handicrafts Valorization Award, IVBAM, challenged the inspiration of regional artisans, who under the theme: “Vineyards that Shape”, in a clear allusion to the different sectors supervised by the Institute, were invited to present their proposals artistic, grouping them into two main areas, Traditional and Contemporary crafts. In the two award categories, 15 artisans competed, resulting in the artistic production of 17 pieces of crafts, which were on display at the Madeira Crafts Store, between the 5th and 21st of July, with a view to being appreciated and voted on by visitors.
The voting process for determining the winners, in the different categories, was carried out through in-person and online voting, thus allowing greater dissemination of the artisans and their pieces, on social media, thus guaranteeing the promotion of the event the responsibility of IVBAM. Once the voting period was over, it was up to a panel of juries with competence for this purpose to receive and evaluate the proposals, defining and presenting final results.
Regarding the Quality Award for Embroiderers, which has been awarded for more than 4 decades, IVBAM intends to distinguish 30 Embroiderers from Casa da Madeira, who, throughout the current year, stood out for the quality of the execution of their work, prioritizing their technical and professional skills, as well as their ability to interpret the drawing.
This recognition is achieved through the attribution of financial prizes, acting as a factor in the social and cultural appreciation of Casa da Madeira Embroiderers, thus ensuring the sustainability of this sector, through permanent investment in the quality of the work carried out with perfection and rigor, one of the pillars based on the strategy adopted by IVBAM, for Madeira Embroidery.
The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Environment, reaffirms its commitment to the traditional arts sectors of the Region, granting financial support to recognized artisans and home embroiderers, for a total value of 12,000.00 €.
